Allied Support Group
Clinical Trials Initiatives
- Clinical Trials section of the Women's Cancer Network Web site (www.wcn.org)
The Clinical Trials section of the Women's Cancer Network was recently added to the Women's Cancer Network Web site (www.wcn.org). The section provides information on the latest clinical trials and is searchable by cancer type and geographic region. Each of the Allied Support Group Organizations has linked their Web sites to this section of the WCN Web site to better guide women to information on clinical trials.
- One-Page Clinical Trials Patient Education Tool
The One-Page Clinical Trials Patient Education Tool will be designed for distribution to medical professional organizations and advocacy organizations. It will be written at a sixth grade reading level from a survivor's perspective and will be available in both English and in Spanish.
- Gynecologic Cancer Clinical Trials Toolkit
The Gynecologic Cancer Clinical Trials Toolkit will be adapted from the National Cancer Institutes' existing general cancer clinical trials toolkit. It will be written at a sixth grade reading level and will be available in both English and in Spanish.
- Hometown Radio Clinical Trials Messaging
The Hometown Radio Public Outreach Program is designed to bring key messages about gynecologic health to women across the nation. The program is jointly sponsored by the GCF and the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists. GCF/SGO members pre-register to be interviewed at the SGO's Annual Meeting on Women's Cancer utilizing a pre-scripted 30-second message. These interviews occur over two full days in the Exhibit Hall either in the booth of the sponsor or the booth space adjacent to the sponsor's booth. These interviews are released to the physician on a CD allowing them to bring the interview to their local radio stations to be broadcast in their home town/region. In addition to the physician bringing their message home, the SGO/GCF releases the interviews in the cities/towns/regions of the participants. There is a guarantee of an average of two acceptances per interview by radio stations in the hometown areas/regions of the members interviewed. The Hometown Radio Outreach Program Messaging will include clinical trial enrollment focused messaging.
- Cultural Disparities and Clinical Trial Participation Educational Workshops
The Cultural Disparities and Clinical Trial Participation Educational Workshops will be designed to educate medical professionals on the impact of cultural disparities in clinical trial participation. The workshops will be offered at medical professional meetings and the information will be made available on CD Rom.
